Good afternoon, church family!
Happy (early) Valentine’s Day! It is a holiday of love, and a certain first grader in my house has taken great care to prepare cards for each of her classmates this Friday. Maybe some of you have dinner reservations, a box of chocolates, flowers or some other plans for that special someone. Let me offer one more word of love for you today: You have a not-so-secret admirer.
For God so LOVED the world… (John 3:16)
But God demonstrated his own LOVE for us… (Romans 5:8)
See what great LOVE the Father has lavished on us… (1 John 3:3)

See a theme there? You are loved. And that love from God to you is not just a little bit. John calls it a love that is LAVISHED. If I may share a strange example for a bit – imagine a sheet of toilet paper representing God’s love. Now, that single square is yours. It’s God’s love for you. Others get a square, too. Because God loves us all.
But when we’re talking about love that is LAVISHED upon on, we can’t contain God’s love for you with just a single square. Unravel the roll! Break open the 12-pack! Go to Costco and grab the case! Every square, every roll, every pallet of toilet paper, in this example, is God’s love LAVISHED on us! And, don’t worry, our kids are going to learn more about that love (and this weird toilet paper example) this Sunday!
So remember on this cold, snowy, midweek check-in: you are loved... LAVISHLY! God loves you. Your pastor loves you. And your church loves you. Happy Valentine’s Day!

JUST FOR FUN
Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:
How badly were students hoping for a snow day at Andover Public Schools? Somebody had Ziggy’s Pizza make a delivery to the school superintendent this week with a special message written on the pizza box. It worked!
There’s a good chance that some kids in Mongolia will soon be running around town wearing Kansas City Chiefs 3-peat Super Bowl Championship hats and t-shirts.
Still looking for that perfect Valentine’s Day gift? For just $10, the Memphis Zoo will send your special someone a video of an adorable red panda eating a grape OR for that no-longer-special someone, a video of an elephant pooping.
